This Privacy Policy explains how Penitent Games, LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects
your information when you visit cybordz.com. We are committed to being transparent about our practices.
For privacy information specific to the Cybordz game, see our
Game Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
a. Information You Provide Directly
- Email address — when you sign up for the playtest or subscribe to the newsletter.
- Referral source — when you sign up for the playtest, we ask how you heard about Cybordz (e.g., Reddit, X, YouTube). This is used only for internal analytics.
- Name, Discord handle, Steam username, controller type, and scheduling preferences — if you book a live playtest session, we collect this information directly and store it in our own database to coordinate and confirm your session.
b. Information Collected Automatically
- IP address — collected server-side when you submit a form. Used for spam/fraud prevention and stored as part of the subscription record.
- Usage data and cookies — collected via Google Analytics and Twitter/X advertising pixels on every page visit. This includes pages viewed, time on site, browser type, and general location (city/region level).
2. How We Use Your Information
- To send you a Steam playtest key and related updates if you sign up for the playtest.
- To send you monthly development updates and announcements if you subscribe to the newsletter.
- To understand how visitors find and use the site (analytics).
- To measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns (conversion tracking).
- To prevent spam and bot abuse on forms (reCAPTCHA).
3. Third-Party Services & Cookies
We use the following third-party services that may collect data about you:
-
Google Analytics 4 — tracks page views, session behavior, and form submission events.
Sets cookies. See Google's Privacy Policy.
You can opt out via Google's opt-out browser add-on.
-
Twitter/X Ads pixel — tracks conversion events (e.g., playtest signups) for advertising purposes.
Sets cookies. See X's Privacy Policy.
-
Google reCAPTCHA v3 — runs invisibly on forms to detect bots. Sends your IP address,
browser information, and interaction patterns to Google for risk scoring.
See Google's Privacy Policy.
-
SendGrid — used to deliver marketing and transactional emails on our behalf. Your email address is passed to SendGrid for delivery.
See Twilio/SendGrid's Privacy Policy.
-
Google Calendar API — used to check scheduling availability and create calendar entries for confirmed playtest sessions.
Your name and email are included in the calendar event description visible only to us.
See Google's Privacy Policy.
-
Sentry — collects server-side error logs to help us fix bugs. We have explicitly disabled
personally identifiable information (PII) collection in Sentry.
-
Google Fonts — fonts are loaded from Google's CDN, which means your browser makes a request
to Google's servers (sharing your IP address). See Google's Privacy Policy.
